Safety Week follow up and Thank you!

Hello Team,

Safety week has concluded and we want to thank you all for your participation.  The raffle drawing is complete and safety incentive prizes should be distributed next week.  Below are comments regarding Safety week from Hunter Perreira, Arizona Safety Manager, Jason Smith, Operations Field Manager and myself.  Thank you all for working safely in 2020 and we look forward to a safe and hopefully COVID-19 free 2021.

“Safety Week was established to promote and celebrate safety in the field. When we lose sight of this focus, the week becomes blurred into the other 51 weeks that we work day in and day out. Here at Berg, we celebrate our safety success. We train time and time again on work practices that demand near perfection in order to maintain safety. We thank our employees and honor them for maintaining their safety and the safety of their partners around them. This Safety Week has embodied these ideas. We celebrated with field crews their proper safety standards. We awarded Safety Ambassadors and Nominees, recognizing them among st the ranks. We will continue to celebrate safety and promote safe work practices, not just this week, but week, after week, after week. I personally thank every field worker, foreman and superintendent, not for preaching safety, but living it, and truly making it our Berg culture. Thank you.”

Hunter A. Perreira, Arizona Regional Safety Manager

“In our industry We practice this on a daily basis to ensure our employees at the Berg group return home to there family’s at the end of the day. For this reason this can never be instilled in a persons thought process enough.  National safety week gives us  the opportunity to focus on not only our achievements as a company from the prior year but also address  with everyone key elements to making our team even safer.  Thank you all for the great and safe year. We look forward to many more!”

Jason Smith, Operations Field Manager

“Safety defined is, “The condition of being protected from or unlikely to cause danger, risk or injury.”   We all want safety in our life at home, work and in between.  In our trade we depend on each other daily to prevent danger, risk and injury.  Safety week gives us a time to not only get our required yearly training completed but, also to reflect on just how lucky we are to have the ability to work in a safe environment. This year you should all be proud of how we came together in the midst of a pandemic to continue building for our customers.  I’m sure there were many days it was not easy to come to work and focus on production and safety on the job site. COVID-19 gave us a true look at how our own personal safety habits can affect people around us. Our ability to improve our own personnel safety habits makes our entire team stronger and strengthens our Berg safety culture. Training sharpens our skills and prepares us for unseen risks and gives us the ability to see hazards before they happen.  Remember that every injury or accident can be prevented!

Thank you all for participating in our Safety week and for all your hard work in 2020. I want to also thank our IT, training and safety teams for everything they did to make 2020 Berg Safety Week a success!

Congratulations to all of the Safety Ambassador nominees and award winners.  As award winners, we will look to you to set the safety standard at Berg in 2021.  Let’s all work hard to be Safety Ambassadors and lead by example in 2021.

Dave Derzab, National Safety Director
