Construction work requires working in high, low, and tight spaces which often forces you to work in an awkward or uncomfortable position. Working in awkward reaching and bent positions can lead to shoulder and back discomfort and possible injury over time. Workers need to be aware of their range of reach and how to prevent injury. The diagram below illustrates the reaching zones when lifting or working. Each zone is categorized by a color based on your body’s ability to lift/work in each area.
